This job almost broke us. We took on a 40-year-old rock garden that hadn’t been touched in decades — overgrown, packed with roots, rocks buried deep, and every plant had to be sourced one by one. Then came the rain. Tornado warnings. Mud. More delays. This job just wouldn’t end. We had to move every single rock by hand and drill every planting hole into rocky Arkansas clay. No machine, just me, my family, and the Ryobi 18V Auger, which honestly earned its keep. The Ryobi handheld blower came in handy too for cleanup — and after all the headaches, sprained thumbs, and bad weather, we turned this disaster into a clean, fresh knockout rose garden. The Job | Full Front Yard Transformation (Days 2–4) Part two of our biggest front yard project yet, covering days two, three, and four. This wasn’t easy: I sprained my wrist, smashed the watch I’ve had for over 20 years (it survived), and the roots fought back hard. Luckily, I had Jessica and the kids by my side the entire way. Jessica took charge teaching the kids how to plant properly, and we all worked together to get this one across the finish line. We dug through roots, planted shrubs with the Ryobi auger, moved mulch with the Ryobi tractor, and knocked out every part of this front yard transformation as a family.
